Administrative and Advocacy Coordinator

Ontario Student Voices is the voice for students. We represent College and Polytechnic students from across Ontario. We bring awareness to the things that impact them by advocating with them to various stakeholders. Our primary goal in doing this advocacy work is to make Ontario a better place for tomorrow's generation of students

Job Overview:

Ontario Student Voices seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Administrative and Advocacy Coordinator to join our team. This multifaceted role will play a pivotal part in supporting our mission by providing administrative assistance, conducting research and advocacy development, and engaging stakeholders, including government representatives, to drive positive change in education.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support (Priority Task):

  • Manage and maintain organizational records and files.

  • Coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.

  • Assist in communication handling and document preparation.

  • Support task prioritization, follow-up, and problem-solving.

  • Maintain confidentiality and data security protocols.

  • Collaborate with team members to provide administrative support.

Research & Advocacy Development (Medium Priority):

  • Engage with member organizations and campuses to collect data on campus trends.

  • Assist in the development of advocacy materials, reports, and presentations.

  • Monitor and analyze education policies, regulations, and legislation.

  • Help plan and coordinate meetings, briefings, and advocacy events.

  • Craft persuasive advocacy messages and narratives.

  • Support the Executive Director in building relationships with policymakers and stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the development of advocacy strategies and campaigns.

Stakeholder Engagement (Including Government Representatives) (Medium Priority):

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government representatives and key stakeholders in collaboration with external support.

  • Foster partnerships with decision-makers to advance our mission.

  • Collaborate with members and supporters to strengthen relationships within our network.

  • Assist in membership outreach efforts to recruit and engage new members.

  • Promote our mission and initiatives through various communication channels.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Research abilities and the capacity to analyze data.

  • Familiarity with social media management and outreach.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

  • Prior experience in a similar role is a plus.

  • Passion for advocating for positive change in education.
