Land Acknowledgment

Aanni, Hello, Bonjour, Welcome,

As we are a provincial organization we would like to recognize the contributions of the many indigenous people of many nations around the province including but not limited to the Anishinaabe, Algonquin, Odawa, Cree, Deleware, Potawatomi and the Haudenosaunee people. We appreciate the contributions of the many first nations, metis and Inuit peoples that this land is home to today.

This land acknowledgment is not only about the land but about what gives us life and what it means to all people. In traditional teachings we do not own the land, we are caretakers of the land for our future generations.

This acknowledgement is also about respect, reconciliation and the relationships we have with one another as a whole.

So, Let’s take a moment to connect with each other and the land we are on. Let’s build healthy relationships with all relations. We commit to learning the true history of the  original people. We acknowledge the land on which we reside so we can build healthy relationships with all peoples and nature so we can have a healthy sustainable future for generations to come.

Chi-Miigwetch. (Thank you very much)
